Chloe Russell

Chloe Russell is a sound artist, photographer, presenter and broadcaster exploring the relationship between people and the natural world through deep listening, image-making and storytelling.

Her practice is rooted in direct engagement with landscapes, often working on water, along coastlines, and within ecosystems; using sound, sonification and field recording to translate environments into immersive, shared experiences. Alongside this, she explores microbial ecologies through her sci-art microscopy project Host Lab, revealing the unseen patterns of the more-than-human world.

Her work is informed by the Blue Mind concept and eco-psychology, exploring how sensory engagement with nature can support wellbeing and deepen environmental connection. Living between London and Dahab, South Sinai, she draws on lived experience within ocean-based communities, from living on boats along the River Thames to freediving and scuba diving in the Red Sea, shaping a practice grounded in water, embodiment and place.

Working across disciplines, Chloe brings together art, science and community through projects including Kalerrâ: Stories, Sound & Science and Talk of the Thames, alongside producing and hosting radio and podcasts centred on nature, science and art. Her practice seeks to make intangible worlds perceptible, creating space for reflection, connection and deeper environmental awareness.
